Are We Human, or are We Robot?

Tesla's Next Big Announcement on 10/10

The Humanoid Vibe is about looking forward to the future, when there are millions of robots walking amongst us. But I also look back and have some laughs like the typical millennial that I am.

Tesla announced their next big demo event. Did you know it has been 5 years since the hilarious Cybertruck fiasco?

They are calling the event on October 10th, “We, Robot”. It is a play on the “I, Robot” movie with Will Smith that came out 20 years ago now. Never saw it, so can’t comment.

But it reminds me of that one song that was famously missing a plural. “Are we human, or are we dancer?”

Did Tesla forget to put an s at the end of it? I guess they never saw that Brian Regan stand up routine:

In other music news, this month was the 10 year anniversary of a U2 album showing up on millions of iPhones and making it nearly impossible to remove.

I deleted that stupid ass U2 album off my iPhone 100 times in the last 10 years and it keeps reappearing 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I swear that terrible U2 album that was forced onto everyone’s iTunes 10 years ago acts as some kind of virus, that to this day I’m still trying to delete off my phone and devices. I think its transferred itself into my car’s interface. So now it plays it every time I start it.

::Focus:: Back to the Tesla Event

It is generally accepted that this demo will feature the unveiling of the Robotaxi. This is the low cost car that doesn’t even have a steering wheel. All self-driving baby!

This is expected to be a 2025 release and also maybe include an Uber or Waymo like ride hailing service.

So that’s it? Didn’t they Elon announce those things 7 years ago and say they would be available in 1-2 years?

I’ll let you in on a little secret: that’s not all. Elon has said this event is “one for the history books” and that this will be the biggest demo he’s even given. Plus they pushed it back from August to October to make sure they get it right. So there must be some surprises in store.

Is it Optimus?

Cars, even self-driving ones, don’t exactly match the “We, Robot” name. So I expect some massive updates on their Optimus humanoid robot.

What will it be? I don’t know. But looking back at when they talked about the Cybertruck and Robotaxi service 5-7 years ago, I suspect this will be similar in some ways.

It will be a shocking humanoid robotics revelation and shift what we think the world will look like in just a few years. The timeline will be overpromised and everyone will say it can’t be done.

I can’t wait!
